AJM Kooheji’s journey began in 1890, when Mahmood Abduljabbar Alkooheji established his trading business by importing textiles from India. His son Abduljabbar Mahmood Alkooheji then took over and expanded the business by importing world renowned automobile brands such as Jaguar, Singer & Renault. Soon after, he became the exclusive Bridgestone Tires distributor and went on to become the first Yamaha Marine distributor outside of Japan. From that point on, AJM Kooheji Group has continuously progressed, establishing itself as an esteemed business entity in The Kingdom of Bahrain.

Founded in 1890 as a small trading business in Bahrain, AJM Kooheji Group B.S.C (C) has grown into one of the Kingdom’s most diversified family business groups — spanning electronics and home appliances, motor and marine, tires and automotive services, furniture manufacturing, commercial air conditioning and project solutions, boat building, and education.
The group’s history is a history of firsts: the first Middle Eastern importer of automobiles in 1944, an exclusive Bridgestone Tires appointment in 1954, and in 1960, the world’s first appointed distributor of Yamaha outboard engines outside Japan. Today the group represents global names including LG, Yamaha, Bridgestone, JBL, Harman/Kardon, AKG and Blue Air, with operations that have extended across Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar and Iraq.
Through it all, one thing hasn’t changed: a family-led commitment to quality, exceptional customer service, and ethical conduct.
