Our beginnings

Our story begins
in Bahrain.

Mahmood Abduljabbar Alkooheji established his trading business in 1890, importing textiles from India to Bahrain. His son Abduljabbar Mahmood Alkooheji expanded the business into automobiles and international brand partnerships.

Today, AJM Kooheji Group brings together six divisions across electronics and home appliances, motor and marine, tyres and automotive services, boat building, furniture manufacturing and education.

We combine the reach of international brands with the expertise of our local teams. Ethical business, long-term relationships and our employee partners remain central to how we work.

From our beginnings in 1890 as a small trading business to becoming a key player in various industries, our journey has been marked by resilience, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.

  1. Our beginnings

    Mahmood Abduljabbar Alkooheji establishes a textile trading business in Bahrain.

  2. A new era in mobility

    AJM Kooheji became the first Middle Eastern importer of automobiles, including iconic brands like Jaguar, Singer, Renault and Triumph motorcycles.

  3. The Bridgestone relationship

    The group was appointed the exclusive distributor of Bridgestone Tires.

  4. Peugeot automobiles

    The group was appointed the exclusive distributor of Peugeot cars.

  5. Yamaha beyond Japan

    The group became the World’s first appointed distributor for Yamaha outboard motors outside Japan.

  6. Yanmar Marine engines

    The group was appointed as a distributor for Yanmar Marine diesel engines.

  7. Furniture, textiles and carpets

    The group diversified into furniture, textile and carpet trading.

  8. The LG relationship

    The group began its distribution relationship with LG Electronics and Home Appliances.

  9. Furniture manufacturing in Bahrain

    The group started a joinery and furniture manufacturing factory in the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the name of Dilmun Furniture Factory.

  10. An investment milestone

    The group acquired Faisal Investment company which holds a stake in the Faisal Islamic Bank in Cyprus.

  11. The launch of Pearl Craft

    The group started ‘Pearlcraft’ a boat manufacturing unit in Bahrain.

  12. Automotive care and education

    The group started a chain of multi brand automobile service centers in The Kingdom of Bahrain called Kwik Kar Kare (3K).

    Hawar International School opens a new chapter in the group’s development.

  13. BKT tyres and REEM batteries

    The group was appointed the distributors for BKT off road tyres and REEM batteries.

  14. New industries and regional markets

    The group diversified by entering new industries such as piling contracting, MEP contracting, and lubricants distribution. They also expanded their operations in Qatar and Libya. Additionally, they were chosen as the distributor for Bridgestone Tires and Chevron lubricants in Iraq.

  15. The Lifestyle division

    The group launched a new business line, the Lifestyle division. Including world- renowned brands such as Korloff and Roberto Coin

  16. De Beers jewellery

    The group was appointed as the official distributor of De Beers Jewelry.

  17. A presence in the UAE

    The group further expanded its international operation by opening its office in the UAE. With this new expansion, the group now has businesses spread out over Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, and Iraq.

  18. The K-Interiors showroom

    Delmon Furniture Factory launched its first exquisite furniture showroom under the brand name “K-Interiors” in Bahrain.

  19. X-Mini joins the portfolio

    The group was appointed the distributor for the X-Mini brand from Singapore, further expanding its range of electronics products.

  20. Electronics and security systems

    The group became the official distributor of Ctroniq. They also introduced a new business division called the Security System Division.

  21. JBL, AKG and Harman/Kardon

    The group was appointed the distributor of JBL, AKG, and Harman/Kardon.

  22. The Blue Air relationship

    The group was appointed the official distributor for Blue Air.
